The Fine Print!

Payment can be made by  Interac e-transfer  Pay-Pal, Major credit card cash or cheque payable to Wavelength.

Lake Ontario Courses

A deposit of 30% of the course fee is required to reserve your place on the course.
The balance is due 30 days prior to the start of the course.

What is included in the course fee?

The course fee includes registration for study of Ashore Knowledge with Learntocruiseonline (see below)  It also includes cost of the examination and registration with Ontario Sailing (CYA provincial member). The Basic course also includes the CYA International Cruising Logbook and if you don’t already have it, the Pleasure Craft Operators Card.The course fee also covers the boat fuel costs and pumpout and dockage at Collins Bay Marina

Live aboard course fees do not include.

  • Eating out (usually one evening meal you cover your own expense)
  • Food- the students buy provisions for the boat and cook meals as part of the course.
  • Dockage/pumpout while away from Collins Bay Marina usually around $20 per student.

Cancellations and Refunds

Cancellation by the school:

If an alternative date cannot be mutually arranged, any payments are refundable in full.

Cancellation by the Student:

  • If a Student cancels more than 30 days prior to a course start date, only the deposit is forfeited. (if the deposit included the ICC fee 75% of the ICC  fee is refunded)
  • If the Student cancels within 30 days before the course starts, or if a Student cancels during a course the full course fee is non-refundable.
  • However, If the student can be replaced then an administrative fee of $100 is charged and any balance refunded
  • In the event they wish to continue at another time, they will need to register for a full course at the prevailing course price less $100 if they were registered with Learntocruiseonline.

Private  Courses

A deposit of 40% of the course fee is required to reserve your place on the course.
The balance is due 30 days prior to the start of the course.

Learnto Cruise Online Courses

What is included in the course fee?

• Access to extensive video screencasts by our instructors
• Email and phone access to LearnToCruiseOnline instructors to deal with any questions you may have
• Access to an online practice exam.  This simulates the experience of writing the official Sail Canada exam and will help you assess your readiness to write the exam

• Additional orientation material to help you prepare for and get the most out of your subsequent afloat course experience
What is not included:
• Text: students will provided with directions for ordering relevant books if required  online
• Navigation instruments: we provide suggestions with respect to what navigation instruments are needed and options for acquiring them

 

Cancellations and Refunds

Cancellation by the school 

The exam fee will be waived so the student can write the exam, which will be taken into account in any future booking.

Cancellation by the Student:

  • Any Learntocruiseonline fees included in the course fee will not be refundable and the exam if required will be at the prevailing rate.
